One hundred anti-GMO activists have destroyed a cargo of transgenic soybean import the port of Lorient, to denounce the presence in the food chain of a product they consider to be "toxic"

One hundred anti-GMO activists have today destroyed in the port of Lorient a cargo of transgenic soybean import to denounce the presence in the food chain of a product they consider "toxic". " We demand that producers of animal feed using GM soy realize that this is a toxic product ", said Jean-François Roux, one of the anti-GMO activists.

M. Roux referred to the recent study by Professor Gilles-Eric Seralini on rats to denounce "pesticide containing crops massively imported in Europe." The activists, who call themselves "Volunteer Reapers volunteers" (faucheur volontaire), are requiring suspension of imports of GM soya - mainly from South America - the labeling of transgenic products and relocation of oilseed crops in Europe.

Policemen surrounded the location, ready to intervene.

The French, one of the best social security systems in the world, average 35 hour working week with 2 hours lunch breaks and no GMO foods. Rude they may be but they take food and standards of living seriously. Just compare to home of the GMO crops, the US, no social security or health care to speak of, high crime, junk foods, 48 hours working week with half hour for lunch if your lucky... and the US economy is in way worse shape then the French..
