COVID-19 is 5 to 10-fold more lethal and flu and can find about 8-fold more victims in absence of proactive disease policing

Why should we expect 50 fold more lethal damage from 

uncontrolled  COVID-19 than from seasonal influenza ? 

About 8-fold lethality multiplied by about 8-fold more people who are susceptible  is more than 50-fold total death.
