The Greenwar Chronicles Part 41. The sordid dangers of misinformation and sabotage

Greenpeace are currently involved in seriously dangerous sabotage of nutritional security in Asia. They are trying to prevent new foods -- which offer good nutrition choices to prevent diabetes, colon cancer, blindness, and vitamin deficiency induced susceptibility to lethal measles and diarrhoea -- from reaching deserving people in the developing world. Greenpeace are actively trying to sabotage the benefits of modern food science from reaching millions of deserving families who sorely need better nutrition.

Their campaign is criminal, by their own admission.

The results of the trial of Greenpeace activists for a GM wheat vandalism incident happening last July have now hit the newspapers. The verdict was guilty. A news item about the case written by Colin Beetles appears here at Stock and Land.
A snippet from this article:
22 March 2012  TWO Greenpeace activists involved in the action that destroyed Genetically Modified wheat trials in Canberra last year have pleaded guilty to property damage charges.
The two Greenpeace activists, Jessa Latona and Heather McCabe, pleaded guilty to the allegations of entering the CSIRO centre in Ginninderra last July and using whipper-snippers to destroy the GM wheat trials.

The full scope of their repugnant efforts to undermine food security in Asia needs to be fully publicised.  Greenpeace's immoral food scaremongering constitutes a serious threat to nutritional security in Asia.

One of Greenpeace's major efforts is to block new cereals that can prevent cancer and diabetes risk by providing a better content of invisible fibre:
New wheat has healthy potential. Benefits in the areas of bowel health, diabetes and obesity from GM wheat.
TechNyou carry great story about GM wheat: the story of our daily bread
GM rice can be healthier than non-GM rice
Diabetes is a huge emerging health issue in both China and India. Bowel cancer is a particularly serious issue in Australia.

White rice increases risk of type 2 diabetes

Greenpeace other major nutritional target is vitamin A fortified rice. A recent GMO Pundit blog post records an ethicist's comments on Greenpeace's latest actions in their long running war of disinformation against vitamin A fortified Golden Rice:
Greenpeace out to sea on GM rice issue, bioethicist says

Greenpeace exploit a range of unscientific allies in their ethically and scientifically dubious campaign: A veritable coalition of Woo
Australian coalition of Woo pull their "alternative medicine" site.
Greenpeace also twists the truth about Chinese food laws:

The Greenwar Chronicles Part 33. Greenpeace on China GM laws. Nice pictures, shame about the misleading text
This irresponsible and non-transparent organisation will eventually be held accountable for their wilful and insidious damage to human welfare.  Their war on modern science is now primarily impacting the lives of multitudes of poor people in Asia, but if allowed to continue, will have health damage extending right across the developing world, and affect billions of nutritionally precarious people.
