TASMANIA: Poppy growers fear GMO ban02.sep.08ABC Australia via Agnet

The Tasmanian Poppy Growers Association says extending the state's ban on genetically modified crops will put the industry at risk. A joint parliamentary committee recommended last week that the State Government extend the moratorium on GM crops for another five years. Lyndley Chopping says the ban means Tasmania could be left behind."It would be a terrific shame for Tasmania, because its poppies are such a great industry."
